We are currently seeking a Pharmacy Manager.

The Pharmacy Manager coordinates daily operations and supervises the distributive functions of the pharmacy including formulary management, medication ordering and distribution, sterile products manufacturing, unit dose preparation, medication storage, unit inspections, drug delivery systems and workload data retrieval and reporting. Identifies operation problems (i.e. staffing; scheduling; workflow) and takes corrective action.

The Pharmacy Manager is expected to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based in the physical ability, intellectual development, psychosocial, educational and safety needs of the pediatric, adolescent, adult and geriatric patient.

The Pharmacy Manager will ensure that each staff pharmacist has reviewed the Pharmacy Department age specific competency manual as well as attended appropriate workshops or complete continuing education with regards to the hospital patient type.

The Pharmacy Manager must be a graduate of an American Council on Pharmaceutical Education approved College of Pharmacy. Must be professionally competent and appropriately licensed by the State of New Hampshire Board of Pharmacy. Five years of hospital pharmacy experience is required. Three plus years of prior supervisory experience and staff training experience is also required. Experience with 340B and pharmacy information systems is preferred.

Clinical Oncology Pharmacist

Qualifications: Maine pharmacist license with at least three years of experience in oncology pharmacy, a PGY-2 in oncology pharmacy, and/or board certification in oncology pharmacy (BCOP).

Scope of Services: Responsible for managing patients' medication therapy regimens to promote optimal outcomes. Responsible for medication use that is safe and effective for all patients all of the time. Responsible for verifying, filling and dispensing medication orders including the proper handling, usage, monitoring and storage of drugs in the pharmacy. Maintains standards set by the department and translates policies and procedures in the daily operation of the pharmacy. Acts as an information resource to patients, physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals regarding medication therapy and drug-related information and literature. Expected to precept students, new hires and residents as required by the pharmacy department. Supervises and directs support personnel.

Provides patient counseling for patients newly started on antineoplastics. Creates and maintains evidence based collaborative practice agreements in collaboration with Miller Drug Specialty Pharmacy for the management of oral antineoplastics. Works on an interdisciplinary medical team to ensure optimal medication management for all oncology patients. Provides in-office and phone follow-up care to oncology patients filling prescriptions at Miller Drug Specialty Pharmacy. Other duties as assigned.

Pharmacy Systems Analyst

Maine Medical Center is seeking a Pharmacy Systems Analyst in Portland. The role is accountable for analysis, building, testing, and implementation of computer systems in a healthcare setting. These systems may include, but are not limited to, functionality to support clinical, fiscal, IS and business operations. The system implementation may be changes, new functionality within a site’s current system, or the implementation of the system at a new site. This is the second level of a three level career path.

The Systems Analyst typically works with end users, managers, line management and senior management on efforts with a medium level of complexity. Incumbents in this role design system components, write specifications, estimate work, define solutions, perform system build and create system level documentation. The Systems Analyst is viewed as a respected resource within the department and within the larger organization. Participation as a member of the On Call support team is required in this position.

Qualifications:
• 3+ year’s pharmacist experience. Hospital experience preferred.
• PharmD required.
• 2-3 years analysis and design experience.
• Demonstrated interest in Healthcare Technology and interaction with Electronic Medical Records.
• Mastery of program development tools such as editors and configuration tools.
• Proven ability to utilize knowledge of computer systems and data structures to develop system solutions.
• Demonstrated experience and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Visio.

Pharmacy Supervisor - Acute Care

Maine Medical Center is seeking an Acute Care Pharmacy Supervisor in Portland. The work hours are Monday through Friday, 3:00 pm – 11:30 pm; no weekend rotation. This position is 80% administration and 20% staffing. The role of the Acute Care Pharmacy Supervisor is to assist the Director of Acute Care Pharmacy Services with ensuring optimal pharmaceutical services are provided at Maine Medical Center. These services include, but are not limited to, procurement, storage, order review/verification, preparation, distribution, compounding, and monitoring of medications. The Pharmacy Supervisor is a member of the Pharmacy Leadership Team and provides supervision and leadership for Clinical Pharmacists, Pharmacist Coordinators, Pharmacy Technicians, and volunteers. This position will also oversee the day to day operations of the TelePharmacy Services program provided to other MaineHealth member hospitals currently utilizing the Epic sEHR system. S/he also fulfills the role of a Clinical Pharmacist, as needed.

Qualifications:

  • A Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree or Master’s in Hospital Pharmacy or Business Administration is preferred.
  • In depth background in pharmacy operations and personnel management preferred.
  • Experience in the development of programs focused on achieving positive outcome in the training and education of department personnel.
  • An active Maine license as a registered pharmacist.
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in hospital pharmacy preferred.
  • Experience directly related to pharmacy service development and implementation.
  • A general or specialized pharmacy residency and experience in a large academic medical center preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written communication and effective presentation skills utilizing various types of media.
  • Knowledge of drug dosages, significant interactions, allergies and ability to apply the principles to specific patient related situations.
  • Knowledge of rules, regulations, policies and laws pertaining to the preparation, storage, procurement, use and disposal of medications in the practice of Pharmacy.
